History of the Park Avenue Open Day
Park Avenue Open Day has long been a landmark event within the UK amusement and gaming industry. Visitors who attended before the early 2000s will remember a very different atmosphere to the event seen today. During the 1980s, more than 11 companies operated from Park Avenue and Brent Crescent, creating a unique hub for the industry. Beginning in 1987, these companies opened their doors together on the same day, welcoming operators, manufacturers, suppliers, and industry professionals into their premises. Each business provided its own hospitality, entertainment, and product showcases, while the entire street became a focal point for networking, conversation, and industry collaboration.
Over time, many of these companies relocated, eventually leaving only Electrocoin and UDC in the area. To preserve both the spirit and scale of the original event, Electrocoin introduced a new format by opening its warehouse space to the wider industry and inviting manufacturers and suppliers to exhibit their latest products alongside us. This approach has now been part of Park Avenue Open Day for over 20 years and continues to grow, with up to 30 participating companies attending this year’s event.
Today, Park Avenue Open Day remains one of the industry’s most recognised and anticipated networking events, bringing together professionals from across the amusement, gaming, and leisure sectors. Guests are welcomed with a champagne reception in the morning, followed by Electrocoin’s well-known Greek barbecue and UDC’s traditional cream tea throughout the day.
As part of the event, participating companies are invited to make a charitable donation in exchange for exhibition space. Once again, these contributions will support Bacta’s Charitable Trust, who will also be attending the event and raising additional funds through their annual raffle.
